BAMPTON COMMUNITY ORCHARD

BAMPTON COMMUNITY ORCHARD NEWS

On this wet and rainy day, Bampton Gardening Club would like to reach out to you about our newly established Community Orchard. Some of you might already know a bit about it and have even volunteered or visited. If you are not familiar and would like to know more then feel free to reach out by email.

One of the next projects for the orchard is to encourage wildflowers to grow again in the meadow, especially those that used to grow in the area or are particularly suited for the soil and conditions. With support and advice from Long Meadow Orchard and one of our own orchard enthusiasts, Jo Kearley, we will be planting wildflowers next month.

We are therefore looking for people to get involved and help with this. We will need helpers to plant and this will take place on a designated day, which will be in November one weekend. Then we will need people to keep an eye on the planting areas in the months coming and Spring and summer next year, simply by taking a walk through the orchard occasionally.

If you would like to help with either or both tasks then we would love to hear from you. If you are not so able to help with the planting but would love to be part of the planting day anyway, perhaps learn some new things or two, again just get in touch. We always love for children and grandchildren to be part of the orchard so again, bring them too!
