SUPPORT WITH RENT ARREARS AND OTHER HOUSING COSTS

We want to ensure that you aware of the Discretionary Housing fund administered by West Oxfordshire District Council. The fund can support people in financial hardship with certain housing related costs. Below are some examples:-

  • a rent shortfall to prevent a household becoming homeless;
  • reductions in the amount of Housing related benefits received;
  • where a rent deposit / advance is required for a cheaper/alternative property that the resident is yet to move to;
  • moving costs (e.g., van hire, removals company);
  • in certain circumstances, to help towards rent arrears;
  • where a resident is subject to the benefit cap.

Residents must have a current claim for Housing Benefit or are receiving the Housing Element of Universal Credit, to be eligible.

To apply, residents can follow this link –  https://www.westoxon.gov.uk/council-tax-and-benefits/housing-benefit-and-universal-credit/discretionary-housing-payments/.
